Verse 2:51

Meaning

Supreme God Krishna spoke

Sages endowed with wisdom renounce the fruits of actions. Freed from the cycle of birth and death, they ascend to a realm devoid of all imperfection. (2:51)

Commentary

The explanation to the preceding verse details how rebirth is prevented by artfully performing actions in the light of liberating wisdom.

श्रीभगवान् उवाच

कर्मजं बुद्धियुक्ता हि फलं त्यक्त्वा मनीषिणः ।

जन्मबन्धविनिर्मुक्ताः पदं गच्छन्त्यनामयम् ॥ 2:51 ॥

कर्मजम् बुद्धि-युक्ताः हि फलम् त्यक्त्वा मनीषिणः,

जन्म-बन्ध-वि-निर्मुक्ताः, पदम् गच्छन्ति अन्-आमयम्।।
