Chapter 5: The Yoga of Renunciation of Action
Verse 5:15

Meaning

Supreme God Krishna spoke

The Supreme Divinity remains untainted by the virtues and vices of individuals. Beings are deceived by the veil of Ignorance that obscures their Knowledge {leading them to perceive God as a puppeteer manipulating their actions}. (5:15)

Commentary

The sun illuminates the entire expanse, and within its light, both virtuous and vicious deeds unfold. The responsibility for these actions does not lie with the sun. It remains unaffected by them. Similarly, neither God nor His fraction, the soul, carries any stain from the good or bad deeds of individuals.

श्रीभगवान् उवाच

नादत्ते कस्यचित्पापं न चैव सुकृतं विभुः ।

अज्ञानेनावृतं ज्ञानं तेन मुह्यन्ति जन्तवः ॥ 5:15 ॥
